Lite Ferries Launches New RORO

Lite Ferries has officially launched MV Lite Ferry Ten, a (RORO) vessel, connecting Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, and Misamis Occidental.

Hon. Jane Cajes-Yap, Mayor of Tagbilaran City; Hon. Aristotle Aumentado, Governor, Province of Bohol; Cong. Jason Almonte of Misamis Occidental and Annabell P. Lagas, Director, MARINA Regional Office VII graced the ribbon cutting ceremony and blessing of the vessel.

In his opening message, Lite Shipping Corporation President Lucio Roger E. Lim Jr. talked about the route improvements that come along with the new vessel. According to him, the MV Lite Ferry Ten has doubled the cargo capacity of the former vessel.

With the introduction of this new vessel, Lite Ferries reduced the cargo rates for rolling cargos by at least 20%. Lim described it as a significant improvement due to the economies of scale. The new vessel can carry up to 20 heavy trucks, compared to the former vessel's capacity of 9. Although the passenger capacity remains the same, Lite Ferries now serve this route daily, increased from four times a week.

Giving Back to the Boholanon Community

Lim also shared how Lite Shipping prioritize giving back to the community, particularly in Bohol. The corporation always give preference to residents from the area.

"At any given time, our company has at least 500 apprenticeships across our fleet. According to the latest Marina figures, we account for at least 10% of the 5,000 apprenticeships boarded last year," he stated.

As part of its corporate social responsibility, Lite Ferries provided aid to Bohol during major calamities, demonstrating its commitment to supporting locals and its loyal customers.

The M/V Lite Ferry Ten offers daily trips on the Cebu-Tagbilaran-Siquijor-Plaridel route. It can accommodate 500 passengers and 20 units of ten-wheeler heavy trucks plus 10 cars. The IACS classed vessel dubbed as “Ang Barkong Bol-anon” has all lying bed bunks for passengers with both air-con (tourist) and non air-con (standard).
